English Translation

Verse 1 + the chorus is sung at most events, however the anthem officially has 3 verses, and the chorus is repeated after each verse.
Russia’s current national anthem uses the same melody as the Soviet anthem (1944–1991), restored in 2000 with new lyrics written by Sergey Mikhalkov - the same poet who had written the original Soviet version.
