English Translation
The Saudi National Anthem
Hasten to glory and supremacy,
Glorify the Creator of the heavens,
And raise the green flag
That bears the written light.
Repeat: God is the Greatest,
O my homeland,
My homeland, live long as the pride of Muslims,
Long live the King
For the flag and the homeland.
The melody came first in 1947, composed by Abdul Rahman Al-Khateeb, before lyrics were added later in 1984 by Ibrahim Khafaji.
It is one of the few national anthems that does not mention war or conflict, focusing instead on pride, faith, and unity.
The anthem is strongly tied to Islamic identity, with references to God and the nation’s role in the Muslim world.
