Patriotic Song
The morning shines on this land,
A land where nature’s beauty abounds,
A homeland of three thousand ri,
So beautiful, my country.
The mountains and rivers are splendid,
The landscape is peaceful and fair,
A tranquil and fertile land,
So beautiful, my country.
This national anthem was adopted in 1947, shortly after the establishment of North Korea
Unlike many aspects of North Korean culture, the anthem does not directly praise the ruling Kim family, focusing instead on the land and nation
It shares the same name (“Aegukka”) as South Korea’s anthem, though the songs themselves are completely different
